Best Gaming Conventions Texas Gamers Can Find In Dallas
Dallas is a strong choice for tabletop gamers. BGG.CON brings board-game fans together for open gaming, scheduled events, and opportunities to try games with other players. Its 2026 gathering is scheduled for November 18–22 in Dallas, and BGG.CON 2027 is listed for November 17–21. The spring event, BGG.Spring, is scheduled for May 27–31, 2027, near DFW Airport.
For video game history and collecting, look beyond downtown Dallas to the wider DFW area: events and venues can be in neighboring cities, so check the address before planning a stay. Choose BGG.CON for all-day board gaming; choose a retro-focused expo when your priority is arcade play, consoles, collectibles, or tournaments. Practical tip: review the event schedule early and reserve seats for any games that require advance sign-up.
Houston Gaming Events: PAX Unplugged And Delta H Con
Houston’s most notable upcoming addition for tabletop fans is PAX Unplugged Houston, scheduled for June 25–27, 2027, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The official event page describes expo-hall demos, tournaments, panels, and other gaming programming. Its broad tabletop focus makes it a promising option for players who want to sample games, meet publishers, or join scheduled activities.
Delta H Con offers a different mix: anime and gaming programming, with electronic gaming, tournaments, tabletop role-playing, and other convention activities. Its 2027 dates are July 16–18 at the Houston Marriott Westchase. Compare the schedules before choosing: PAX Unplugged is centered on tabletop games, while Delta H combines gaming with a wider anime-convention experience. Tournament entry or specific activities may require separate tickets.
Austin Gaming Conventions And Central Texas Picks
Austin’s clearest confirmed 2027 pick for video game fans is Classic Game Fest, scheduled for July 23–25 at the Palmer Events Center. The event’s official information describes a retro-game focus, with arcade and console play, vendors, and tournaments among its attractions. It suits visitors who want to revisit classic titles or browse games and gaming collectibles in person.
For tabletop role-playing and board games, also consider ChupacabraCon in San Marcos, a nearby Central Texas destination rather than an Austin city event. Its 2027 dates are listed as May 28–30. Austin-area event schedules can change, and not every gaming meetup is a full convention; check the organizer’s latest announcements for venue, registration, and the specific games on offer.
San Antonio Gaming Conventions For Tabletop And Anime Fans
San Antonio has two distinct options on the 2027 calendar. Alamo City Game Convention, scheduled for March 19–21, focuses on tabletop role-playing, miniature wargaming, card games, and tournaments. San Japan, set for September 3–5, is an anime-focused convention that also includes gaming. Pick Alamo City for play-centered tabletop programming; choose San Japan for a broader fandom weekend.
These events are not interchangeable, so read the program before buying a pass. At a tabletop convention, look for game sign-ups, open gaming hours, and tournament rules. At an anime convention, check whether gaming activities are a major part of the schedule or one feature among many. For dallas houston austin gaming events and San Antonio options, confirm the location, age policies, and ticket inclusions directly with organizers.
